Challenge

Each year, TXCPA’s Leadership Day gathers volunteer leaders statewide to kick off the fiscal year. However, evolving expectations and varied volunteer experience levels revealed gaps in clarity, role understanding, and organizational alignment. Participants—especially new committee members—often lacked confidence in their responsibilities, while staff faced challenges ensuring consistent, engaging onboarding for a geographically dispersed audience.

Solution

TXCPA partnered with Event Garde to redesign Leadership Day as a high-energy, purpose-driven launch for the volunteer year. Through interactive activities, strategic panel discussions, committee-specific breakouts, and practical leadership tools, the event emphasized clarity of roles, shared purpose, and relationship-building. New elements like the “Leadership Tree” and Idea Wall fostered personal commitment, peer exchange, and momentum for the year ahead.

Finish

The redesigned Leadership Day sparked renewed momentum for TXCPA’s volunteer community, blending practical leadership tools with space for meaningful peer exchange. Participants described the experience as “energizing” and “one of the most engaging TXCPA experiences,” while staff walked away with fresh strategies to support committee success. The event delivered on its promise—strengthening alignment, deepening connections, and building confident, capable leaders across the state.
