Q & A with Lindsay Gross, Certified Top Facilitator for Event Garde

Learn: Q: What’s your favorite part about learning something new?

A: I love the idea that there is always something new and exciting to add to our knowledge base and create a depth to our work/lives. I am a person who likes to gain new perspectives and understand how and why people think or act the way they do. Learning new things helps me to deepen my understanding about what lies beneath the surface.

Network: Q: Some people are wallflowers while others are natural networkers. Which are you (or are you in the middle)?

A: I am definitely a natural networker who enjoys my homebody time as well. I enjoy meeting new people and feel I am able to create connections easily with others. On the flip side, I definitely like my time at home with a book and/or favorite show to unwind.

Transfer: Q: Let’s say you just attended a certification course. What would be your first step in applying what you learned?

A: I always try to identify three takeaways from each course I attend. When we participate in courses, a great deal of information is typically thrown our way. I find in order to create connection to the material, I need to identify three top take-home messages and identify ways I can integrate those items to my daily work.

Q. Please share with us a resource you can’t live without.

A: I have tons! For work-related resources, I tap into the ToP Network and the North Star Facilitators blog. Personally, I love the work of Isabel Foxen Duke and her blogs on body positivity and the meaning we place on food in our lives. I listen to the Nerdist podcast frequently and my recent obsession is anything Neil deGrasse Tyson.

Q: If you could have had the starring role in one film already made, which movie would you pick?

A: I love space movies! “Apollo 13,” “Interstellar,” “The Martian” and “Armageddon” are some of my favs. Although, if I had to pick one, I’d go with the classic, “Space Camp,” which was my favorite as a kid.
