Facilitation

No matter your role—whether you're an internal facilitator leading one-on-one meetings, team discussions, staff gatherings, or board sessions, or an external consultant guiding project initiatives and strategic planning—having a well-equipped facilitation toolbox is essential.

Cultivating diverse facilitation skills, techniques, and foundational methods is just as important as having the confidence to adapt, adopt, and practice them. The ultimate goal for facilitators? To learn from both successes and challenges, continuously refining your approach for greater impact.

Self-Assessment

Self-assessment in our facilitation work is key to our continued growth and ultimately results in more successful group outcomes. That’s why we’ve developed and are providing to you at no charge this self-assessment tool. As you build your awareness of these eight domains and 50 associated competencies, you can begin to more intentionally grow your facilitation knowledge and apply it to your facilitation practice.

It’s important to note that this is a robust self-assessment tool. It may take anywhere from 15 to 20 minutes for you to complete depending on your level of self-reflection throughout the survey. You are welcome to keep it open in your web browser and return to it as your schedule allows. If you close your web browser, however, your answers will be lost and you will be prompted to start over.

Webinars

Engage with our subject matter experts in 60-90 minute live webinars on hot topics like our popular session on "Co-Creating Community Agreements: Fostering Collaborative Accountability." You can expect formal presentations with invaluable facilitator insights, as well as slides, handouts, and other resources you can immediately download and add to your facilitation toolbox. Access all past sessions here and all future sessions here.

Voices & Views

In 2023, we launched Season 1 of our Voices & Views video series. These are 20–30 minute informal roundtable discussions by facilitators, for facilitators. They include foundational information about a predetermined topic, as well as tips and tricks rooted in real-life examples and experiences. As the sessions are pre-recorded, you are welcome to listen to them as your schedule allows — either like a podcast or via video from your mobile device, tablet, or computer. Either way, we hope you will share and debrief them with other facilitators or team members. View the whole video series here
