Q & A with Kathleen Mennillo, Executive Director, International Hearing Society

Learn: Q: Let’s say you’re helping your child or friend with some homework. What’s your strategy for helping them learn a difficult topic?

A: It is key to get people to believe in themselves - that they can do anything. Build their confidence by affirmations. It works!

Network: Q: What’s your No. 1 networking trick?

A: Smile! People love to smile back. And it’s free and feels good!

Transfer: Q: Think about a topic in which you feel you’re quite knowledgeable. How would you use this knowledge to better your industry?

A: I give my all to our organization. Everything I know about finances, product development, relationship building - I put it all on the table every day. What I love most is developing the skillsets of my team, numbers (financials) and, most importantly, creating prosperity for the society through product development and financial success.

Q. Please share with us your favorite resource.

A: The Bible. I start each morning reading the Bible and the learning comments that relate the verses to daily life. This gets me out the door with the right intentions. (It’s not always easy staying on track, but at least I start the day off right!) Also, I keep the Webster’s Dictionary and Thesaurus in my top work drawer. I’m boring, eh?

Q: What’s the one thing you just can’t live without?

A: My dogs, Oskar the Rottweiler and Olga the Basset Hound! They have great personalities and are the best cuddlers I know!
