Gardian of the Month: Kris Mayo

Kris Mayo Headshot

Our Gardian of the Month is Kris Mayo, Meeting and Events Manager for CGi LLC!

Learn: What's your favorite part about learning something new?

Learning new things helps me stay current and up to date; my favorites are learning about human nature/getting to know people better and learning new skills (or improving old ones).

Network: What advice might you give a wallflower, who’s not comfortable networking, at a professional event to help them loosen up?

Walk in with a smile and make eye contact as much as you can. If no one approaches you, introduce yourself to the other person/people in the room keeping to themselves – you probably have a lot in common!

Transfer: Let's say you just attended a certification course.  What would be your first step in applying what you learned?

I’m typically thinking of ways to implement what I’ve learned while in the course; it helps me retain the new knowledge. I also like to apply what I’ve learned in various areas of my life beyond just the targeted area of the course.

Please share with us a resource and why you can’t live without it.

Google is my best friend! It’s hard to remember life without it. I use it constantly – for trivial knowledge as well as in-depth research and everything in between.

Just for Fun: If you were writing a book about your life, what would the title be and why?

Just Keep Smiling! I wake up each day and choose to be happy. Keeping a smile on my face helps me stay happy, and hopefully rubs off on those around me. It exhausts me to not be happy, AND it takes less muscles to smile than frown.
