Q & A with Destiny Nance-Evans, associate director and director of membership, FIRM

Learn: Q: What’s your favorite part about learning something new?
A: Work smarter, not harder is my motto. So when learning anything new I try to think of how it will streamline or simplify a process, be put to use and increase positive outcomes. That right there is exciting to me and is therefore my favorite part.

Network: Q: Some people are wallflowers while others are natural networkers. Which are you (or are you in the middle)?
A: Slow to warm, but once I am comfortable or have had a cup of coffee I am a natural networker.

Transfer: Q: Let’s say you just attended a certification course. What would be your first step in applying what you learned?
A: Questioning where it can be applied best in my job and where/when to begin implementation.

Q. Please share with us a resource you just can’t live without.
A: Shameless plug – Illinois Society of Association Executives (ISAE) Blog, BizBash and Associations Now websites. Good stuff!

Q: If you lost one of your senses, which would you want it to be, and why?
A: I would have to say smell. I really would miss the others too much, so by process of elimination this would have to be the one to go.
